Anyone catch this story? Pretty cool..cliff notes are the starting goalie and backup got hurt so they brought in the Zamboni driver as an emergency goalie.. he gave up a few goals but got the win. Never in a million years did that dude wake up with an idea that shit was gonna go down...cool story

He had sometimes practiced with the Leafs when they needed a body. He wasn't very good. But the Leafs are such a soft team that they didn't score on him for the entire third period!

lol,42 yrs old, beatin by their own Zamboni goalie,......................... can't make this shit up :missingte

this is super cool, kudos to the players

fuckin' Brind'amour has his team as a mirror reflection of how he played the game. They are a dump and chase team (lead the league in dumps this yr as a %), and team defense is a TOP priority. Kudos...sandpaper

Smashed it myself. When Canes scored 2 early goals in the third I thought it was as close to a lock as possible. Needed 1 goal in the last 15 minutes.

I had the Leafs O3.5 went to the Canucks Game heard somebody mention it thought I would lock up that TT. Congrats to that guy Ayres though - First time an emergency back up has ever won a game for his team, amazing story.

I heard an interview driving in my car and it was said that the guy doesn't even get paid anything unless the players come together and pitch in some $$$. Hard to believe the team or NHL doesn't at least throw these guys $1k when they do something like this.

Wonder if he gets paid every game. He does have to be in the stands and sober...

The Hurricanes will also be selling shirts honoring Ayres at home games and on their website that Ayres will receive royalties from and a portion of the proceeds will go to the kidney foundation of his choosing.

Dan Patrick had him on yesterday seems like a great dude. Doesn't get paid anything but if you use the player minimum salary he should have gotten around $9,000 for his single game. I bet someone ponies up and he gets some cash. Funny thing is he isn't even a Zamboni driver anymore though but it adds to the story
